Liza Colburn uses her cellphone constantly.
She taps out her grocery lists, records voice memos, listens to music at the gym, tracks her caloric intake and posts frequent updates to her Twitter and Facebook accounts.
The one thing she doesn’t use her cellphone for? Making calls.
This fits my usage pretty accurately too. In the last five years I’ve pretty much done an about-face on how I use my phone (of course, part of that is simply a function of better phones and better rates on data use). I used to use my phone only for calls and never even thought about texting or web browsing.
Then I got a phone that did texting and surfing better than the older ones, and now I’m almost surprised when it rings. Of course I still have to deal with voice calls when communicating with my parents, since they’re not exactly in touch with technology, but still.
